Our adventurers decide to go for the smaller door that lead into a room with two large statues, a chest, and a table with money, papers, and a mace. Vrondar finds a journal entry detailing Burmor’s attempts to replicate a magical mace, without success. Dylan picks up the magical mace on the table and taps one of the statues, activating an animation trap bringing the statues to life.
A battle ensues that results in the golems getting smashed to pieces, and our adventurers find the real mace in the chest, a magical mace that can change into a mace of pure radiant light when wielded by a divine magic user.
Our group next opens the larger set of doors with one of the bronze orbs they found earlier, and arrive at a large room where they first confront Burmor! Burmor quickly teleports awaywhile activating a ritual spell on a pile of bone to create some undead! Dylan rushes in but triggers a ritual circle trap that drains vitality from him to animate an undead skeletal drake!
A fierce battle ensues and our party eventually realizes they must kill the undead with radiant light to prevent them from rising up again! After a brutal beating that leaves our adventurers battered they finally manage to finish off the undead. Afterwards they search for a way to follow Burmor through the teleportation circle and discover letters and a journal entry that reveals his motivations! Burmor is being blackmailed by a group of drow into raising the army for them in return for the safety of his love, Amelia.
Our heroes find themselves lucky when they determine that by a fluke accident, half of Vrondar’s crowbar has been teleported with Burmor and they use the other half to activate the circle and teleport to the middle of Borumin’s Rest! Burmor is already casting the ritual in town under the protection of a large illusion spell!
What will they do next? How will they handle the new revelations about Burmor? We will have to wait and see!
